Thank you, Zipcar!

CalSol was recently selected as a finalist in the Zipcar “Students with Drive” campaign! Our team would like to thank Zipcar for donating $1000 of Zipcar credits. CalSol’s workshop locates at the Richmond Field Station which is approximately 20 minutes away from campus with traffic, and this support will greatly ease transportation arrangements for team members.

However, our work is not done! As one of the finalists selected for the month of February, CalSol has the opportunity to win more support from Zipcar.
You can help CalSol win up to a total of $15,500 by following these easy steps:

  1. Click on the following link: http://bit.ly/nlbIw8
  2. Log in your Facebook account
  3. Click on the green “vote” button
  4. Add the “Zipcar: Students with Drive” application on Facebook
  5. Select “CalSol” under the Academic group and submit your vote!
  6. Each person can only vote once, so now your job is to spread the word!

Tell you friends!  Tell your family!  Tell your colleagues!  Tell your professors and classmates!  Voting is ending in 12 hours, so start spreading the word now!

We thank you for your support and GO BEARS!

A Visit From Toshiba

Marc using our sponsored Portege intensely

At the end of January, CalSol had the privilege of hosting Josh Stempel of Toshiba. Toshiba has been an incredible sponsor, and we were thrilled to finally have one of their team members visiting us here in Berkeley.

Recently, CalSol has also been teaming up with Toshiba to organize a campus wide battery and electronics drive.  Alongside Berkeley’s Green the Greeks organization, CalSol is working to increase awareness for sustainable technology and environmental awareness. The battery and electronics drive will launch in early March, and conclude around Earth Day in April. Be sure to come back and check out our blog for more information later on!

We hope that Toshiba had a great time visiting the Richmond Field Station and seeing Impulse in person for the first time!

Hello! It has been roughly two months since our last update and I’m sure you are curious as to what has happened in the meantime. It is my great pleasure to fill you all in!

Starting with the biggest news, CalSol is attending the American Solar Challenge this summer! We will be raycing against a number of other solar vehicle teams from around the world in two different events. The first, called the Formula Sun Grand Prix, is  a track race for all of the teams attending. The second event is the American Solar Challenge itself, in which a smaller number of teams will participate. This rayce will see CalSol from Rochester, New York to St. Paul, Minnesota. (more…)

Howdy friends!  It’s been a while!

I have finally returned to our beautiful golden state, California!  After getting back to school and sorting out all sorts of miscellaneous logistical issues, I couldn’t help but noticed that our blog is TERRIBLY out of date!  To start off a series of blog posts to come, I’d like to formally acknowledge our Platinum sponsor, Volkswagen, for everything they have done for us thus far.

Thank you Paul for being so helpful and wonderful! It's been a pleasure working with you!
